2026 MIPS Reporting Requirements
For the 2026 performance year, eligible clinicians should confirm their participation status, select an applicable reporting pathway and monitor performance throughout the year. The MIPS final score ranges from 0 to 100 points, and the performance threshold remains 75 points through the 2028 performance year.
How MedicureMD Supports Practices Through the MIPS Reporting Process
With MedicureMD’s MIPS services, providers no longer need to struggle with complex CMS requirements. Our experts manage every step of MIPS reporting, as outlined below:
FAQs
MIPS performance may lead to a positive, neutral or negative Medicare payment adjustment in the associated payment year. The result depends on the clinician’s final score and CMS program rules. MedicureMD supports eligibility review, measure selection, data validation and submission preparation, but does not guarantee a specific score or payment adjustment.
Traditional MIPS evaluates eligible clinicians across four performance categories: Quality, Cost, Improvement Activities and Promoting Interoperability. Each category contributes to the final MIPS score, although category weights may change for clinicians with an approved exception, special status or applicable program policy.
You will need EHR performance reports, patient encounter logs, quality measure data, evidence of improvement activities, Promoting Interoperability records, and signed attestation forms. Maintaining thorough documentation helps validate your submissions and protects your practice during CMS audits.
If a MIPS-required clinician does not submit the required data by the CMS deadline and does not qualify for an applicable exclusion or approved exception, the resulting final score may lead to a negative Medicare payment adjustment in the associated payment year. The adjustment can reach the statutory maximum of minus 9%, depending on the clinician’s eligibility and final score.
EHR and Data Support for MIPS Reporting
MedicureMD works with compatible EHR, practice management, registry and reporting systems to review MIPS data availability, measure reports, numerator and denominator details, performance gaps and submission readiness. Available reporting functions and data access vary by platform and practice setup.
